Overview
You can start from Avlabari. First, show the Palace of Queen Darejan, then the oldest authentic house from the 17th century, followed by the remains of the fortress wall. Then visit the Metekhi Church, describing the view from there and the visible landmarks, explaining how they look today and how they used to look in the past.
Next, cross over the Rike Park and the Bridge of Peace – mention what makes this bridge special. Alternatively, take Sioni Street and talk about the Tamada statue, the Mantashev Trading Rows, Parajanov, the Chiaureli Square, the Konka (historic tram), and the Sioni Cathedral.
Continue along Irakli II Street to Irakli Square, mentioning the first printing house, the Patriarchate building, and the garden opposite it. Then go down Shavteli Street to visit Anchiskhati Basilica, the Gabriadze Theater, and explain everything about it and the theater, as well as the features of the surrounding area.
Don’t forget the monument to the janitor (from Pirosmani’s painting) and the Lamplighter monument, then head toward the Baratashvili Bridge. Continue uphill along the street opposite the former Kolkhoz Market, providing details about all the landmarks along the way, and end the tour at Freedom Square and Pushkin Park.
