Begin the journey along the Georgian Military Road, a historic and scenic route through the Greater Caucasus.
First stop: the Zhinvali Reservoir, a stunning turquoise lake surrounded by mountains. Then head to the confluence of the White and Black Aragvi rivers – explain how their different colors create a striking natural contrast.
Continue to Ananuri Fortress, a 17th-century castle complex with breathtaking views over the reservoir. Talk about its defensive towers, churches, and the carvings on the stone walls.
Next, pass through Pasanauri, known as the birthplace of khinkali, the famous Georgian dumpling. Optionally, mention where visitors can try authentic ones.
Further up the road, stop at the Friendship Monument (Friendship Arch) in Gudauri, built in 1983 to celebrate the friendship between Georgia and Russia. The monument offers incredible panoramic views over the Caucasus Mountains.
