Nestled in the fertile plains of eastern Georgia, is the country’s premier wine region, renowned for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and world-class wines. Often called the “cradle of wine,” Kakheti boasts over 8,000 years of winemaking tradition, making it one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. Explore vineyards that stretch across the valleys and hills, where local winemakers craft unique varieties using ancient methods, including qvevri wine (fermented in clay pots).

Sites to visit

· Sighnaghi

Perched on a hilltop, Sighnaghi is a charming town known for its well-preserved city walls, cobblestone streets, and colorful houses with ornate balconies. Often referred to as the "City of Love," it offers breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley and the Caucasus Mountains. Visitors can explore the 18th-century Sighnaghi Fortress.

· Bodbe Nunnery

Located just 2 km from Sighnaghi, Bodbe Monastery is a revered Georgian Orthodox site and the final resting place of Saint Nino, the 4th-century missionary who introduced Christianity to Georgia. The monastery complex, dating back to the 9th century and renovated in the 17th century, is set amidst tall cypress trees and offers panoramic views of the Alazani Valley. Explore the serene grounds, admire the colorful frescoes, and visit Saint Nino’s Spring, believed to possess healing properties. The peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for reflection and spiritual connection

· Tsinandali Estate

Tsinandali Estate offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and winemaking excellence. Once the residence of the noble Chavchavadze family, the estate boasts a beautifully restored 19th-century palace, lush gardens, and a renowned wine cellar.

· Local Winery

For a more intimate wine experience, visit to local winery will offer a deep dive into traditional Kakhetian winemaking.
